Tasting Notes
A concentrated fruity component reminiscent of grilled, spiced pineapples. The luxurious mouthfeel, well-integrated oak and vibrant fruits lead to a lengthy finish.
Vineyard Notes
A good portion of vineyards in the southern end of the valley are comprised of a more sandy soil, Darkhorse Vineyard is mainly glacial silt. It gives the wines a distinctive terroir that stands out amongst the crowd of similar wines.
Winemaker Notes
It was fermented in Concrete Eggs and then spent 6 months aging in a blend of 40% new oak. The oak is well-integrated and not overpowering. It has a concentrated fruity component that reminds me of grilled spiced pineapples. The crop was very small in 2023 so the wine is very limited in production.
